And therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words "Ich

"Freedom has many difficulties, and democracy is not
perfect.
But we have never had to put a wall up to keep our
people in!"-John F. Kennedy
The Berlin Wall fell on November 9th 1989. Thousands of people rushed into the West as the first chunks of the solid wall were knocked down. It became known as an eruption of a big political volcano, because of the communism being contained for more than 50 years. The East and West became one and communism began to crumble as the Berlin Wall did. The Cold War was over. Families were reunited.
The fall of the Berlin Wall is important today because we don't have to worry about a Communist uprising in the U.S. The Fall of the Berlin Wall ended communsion in not only Germany but all of Europe. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, the world has been fundamentally altered and reconstructed since then.
